EDMA welcomes 7 new members

EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, enlarges its membership with six new companies: BioSystems SA, Diagnostica Stago, Innogenetics, Luminex Corporation, Orion Diagnostica and Tecan, and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND).

BioSystems S.A. has been developing and manufacturing reagents and instruments for clinical analysis since 1981. BioSystems offers a complete line of products continuously updated according to the needs of the laboratories, reaching over 100 countries across the world.

Originally created as Laboratoire Stago in Paris in 1945, Diagnostica Stago formulates, manufactures and markets worldwide, the broadest range of reagents and analytical instruments in haemostasis intended for the diagnosis of haemostasis disorders (haemophilia, thrombosis) and in the prediction of thromboembolic risk. Through a wide international network of distributors, Diagnostica Stago is represented in more than 110 countries.

Innogenetics applies its knowhow and synergies in molecular biology, immunology, and virology to build two distinct businesses: a specialty diagnostics business dedicated to the value-added, clinically targeted integration of diagnostics and therapeutics to improve the real-time treatment of disease, and a therapeutics business. Founded in 1985, Innogenetics’s headquarters are in Belgium, and it has sales affiliates in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and the United States. 

Initiating its commercial production in 1997, Luminex Corporation develops, manufactures and markets innovative biological testing technologies with applications throughout the life-sciences industry. The company’s open-architecture xMAP®  technology enables large numbers of biological tests (bioassays) to be conducted and analyzed quickly, cost-effectively and accurately.

Orion Diagnostica is a biomedical company belonging to the Orion Group, the leading health-care company in Finland. Established in 1974, it specialises in rapid and easy-to-use clinical diagnostic, with a strong focus on point-of-care testing enabling rapid, evidence-based clinical decisions at the site of patient care. Orion Diagnostica’s products are sold worldwide through subsidiaries, sales offices and a distributor network covering more than 60 countries.  

Tecan is one of the world’s leading players in the growing Life Sciences supply industry. Founded in 1980, it specialises in the development, production, distribution and servicing of enabling solutions for the discovery of pharmaceutical substances, as well as for genomics, proteomics, and diagnostics. Tecan operates manufacturing, research and development sites in both North America and Europe and maintains a sales and service network in more than 50 countries.

The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) is a non-profit Swiss foundation based in Geneva. Its purpose is to support and promote the health of people in developing countries by sponsoring the development and introduction of new but affordable diagnostic tools for poverty related diseases. FIND’s current donors include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, the European Union and the Dutch Government.  

EDMA looks forward to a fruitful cooperation with all the new seven members to promote In Vitro testing, prevention, early diagnosis and monitoring of treatments, access to innovation, and high quality healthcare.

Background:

In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) testing provides objective information as a basis for better decisions in healthcare. EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association represents the IVD industry active in Europe. Its mission is to promote the value of in vitro testing and to raise awareness of the importance, usefulness and added-value that diagnostic information can provide to healthcare. For this purpose, EDMA cooperates with European institutions, patients groups, trade associations, health professionals and academia to support an appropriate regulatory system, to work towards a realistic economic environment for health care in Europe and to be an effective voice in globalisation.
