MedicalLab Global Access now available
MedicalLab, a clear online source of information on laboratory testing is now available in English, French, Dutch and Portuguese through a unique portal.
Aiming at facilitating the access of patients and citizens to peer-reviewed, reliable information on clinical diagnostics, EDMA and its partners have created a one-stop access to the whole MedicalLab project. Laboratory tests influence about 64% of the medical decisions1, which makes them an essential tool in healthcare, playing an important role in disease prevention and early diagnoses as well as in therapy monitoring.
MedicalLab was originally developed by the Dutch In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) Association Diagned and various scientific and professional associations to help citizens better understand the lab tests that are part of routine care as well as diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of conditions and diseases and the importance they have in healthcare. The subsequent sites have been developed in cooperation with IVD Associations in the UK (BIVDA), Ireland (IMDA), France (SFRL) and Portugal (Apifarma). In the coming months MedicalLab will also be available in Japanese thanks to the combined efforts of EDMA and JACRI, the IVD Association in Japan.
The campaign to promote the site has been launched today on EurActiv.com, the independent portal on EU Affairs with more than 225,000 unique monthly visitors (CIM certified figures – February 2007). The portal is an important working instrument for the majority of EU Actors (institutions, industry federations, NGO's, think tanks, the press and others) involved in defining or influencing EU policies.
