EDMA welcomes new member: Life Technologies
EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, is pleased to announce that Life Technologies has now joined its corporate affiliates, bringing the Association’s overall membership to 42 major companies and 23 national associations.
Life Technologies is a global biotechnology tools company which works on an international basis by providing leading systems, consumables and services for scientific researchers around the world.
Customers of Life Technologies conduct their research across the biological spectrum, working to advance personalised medicine, regenerative science, molecular diagnostics, agricultural and environmental research, and 21st century forensics. Thus, with its products, Life Technologies is advancing research in such areas as drug discovery and development, toxicology and forensics, disease diagnostics, clinical cell therapy and regenerative medicine, and biologics manufacturing.
Life Technologies’ 50,000 products are used by more than 75,000 customers, including over 90% of research laboratories in the US. In addition, the company spends approximately $300 million (€227.5 million) on research and development.
Life Technologies was created when Invitrogen Corporation and Applied Biosystems Inc. were combined, in order to manufacture both In Vitro diagnostic products and research use only-labelled products, to allow researchers to accelerate scientific exploration, driving to discoveries and developments that improve the human condition.
In this and other related areas, EDMA looks forward to a fruitful cooperation with Life Technologies, for a healthier today and a better tomorrow.
EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, represents national associations and major companies engaged in the research, development, manufacture or distribution of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) tests in Europe. Through its membership, EDMA represents in total more than 500 companies (or over 700 legal entities) across Europe. The mission of EDMA is to raise awareness of the importance, usefulness and added value that diagnostic information can provide to healthcare. For this purpose, EDMA cooperates with European institutions, patients groups, trade associations, health professionals and academia to support an appropriate regulatory system, to work towards a realistic economic environment for healthcare in Europe and to be an effective voice in globalisation.
