LabTestsOnline Launched in Greece
EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, is proud to announce that LabTestsOnline, the non-commercial multilingual information portal on laboratory testing, has officially been launched in Greece.
Brussels, 15 April 2010 – The Greek LabTestsOnline website was successfully launched in Athens yesterday (14 April 2010). Initially developed by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) in the US, LabTestsOnline is a global project with websites in the UK, China and Australia as well. EDMA coordinates the project in continental Europe where the peer-reviewed, patient-centred, and non-commercial website is now available in Greek, Italian, Czech, German, Spanish, Hungarian and Polish.
The Greek site is coordinated by EDMA’s national association member Hellasmes and the Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (EEKX-KB). Hercules Papaioannou, Director General of Hellasmes, thanked all of those who attended the event and highlighted the excellent cooperation between the two associations in developing and promoting the website.
During the launch event, EDMA Communications and Public Affairs Manager Miriam Gargesi pointed out that LabTestsOnline meets both a public need as well as the highest quality standards on health information. “Both values are appreciated by the European Commission, which has included links to the European LabTestsOnline websites on the Health-EU Portal”, she explained.
LabTestsOnline offers clear and easy to understand information to citizens and physicians about the diverse and advantageous contributions of laboratory medicine to health protection and care. Therefore, users can inform themselves about the tests they have been prescribed, the conditions usually related to the assays and how the success of the treatment is evaluated.
