EDMA Welcomes Philips Healthcare Incubator as a New Member

The European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, EDMA enlarges its corporate membership with Philips Healthcare Incubator. Based at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven in the Netherlands, the Health Care Incubator aims at finding venturing opportunities in the healthcare sector in order to create successful businesses.

The Philips Healthcare Incubator looks for potential ventures both within and outside Philips, concentrating on ideas that create value by leveraging Philips capabilities. Once a business opportunity has been identified, the Philips Healthcare Incubator assists the venture team in the transformation of an idea into a new business, starting with customer insights to drive the direction of the business plan.

The Handheld Immunoassay Venture is developing applications based on the Magnetic Biosensor technology which will be used for decentralized testing.
EDMA is looking forward to a fruitful cooperation with Philips Healthcare Incubator to promote In Vitro testing, prevention, early diagnosis and monitoring of treatments, access to innovation, and high quality healthcare. The adhesion of the new corporate affiliate brings EDMA overall membership up to 32 major IVD companies and 21 National Associations.

Background:
EDMA, the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association represents National Associations and major companies engaged in the research, development, manufacture or distribution of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) medical devices in Europe. Through its affiliated National Associations, EDMA represents in total more than 500 companies (or over 700 legal entities) across Europe. The mission of EDMA is to raise awareness of the importance, usefulness and added-value that diagnostic information can provide to healthcare. For this purpose, EDMA cooperates with European institutions, patients groups, trade associations, health professionals and academia to support an appropriate regulatory system, to work towards a realistic economic environment for healthcare in Europe and to be an effective voice in globalisation.
