EDMA Welcome QIAGEN to the Membership
The European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association, EDMA, is pleased to welcome QIAGEN as a new corporate affiliate, brining the Association’s overall membership up to 23 National Associations and 39 major IVD companies.
Founded in 1984 as a spin-off at the University of Düsseldorf, the mission of QIAGEN is to make improvements in life possible through enabling breakthroughs in life sciences, applied testing, pharma, and molecular diagnostics.
The company offers innovative sample and assay technologies. The sample technologies are used to extract genetic material from a biological sample. These QIAGEN products help isolating and preparing DNA and RNA as carriers of the genetic information and proteins. The Assay technologies are used to make rare target materials in samples, such as genetic material, visible. These technologies include “open” assays (reagents) for detection of DNA and RNA sequences as well as “target specific” assays to detect the presence of specific pathogens.
The QIAGENcares program aims to improve access to screening methods for infectious diseases in emerging and developing countries. The current focus is on projects helping to improve the lives of women around the world by expanding access to screening technologies and working to eliminate cervical cancer. EDMA looks forward to a fruitful co-operation with QIAGEN to build partnerships with global organisations, academia, and women’s advocacy groups to enable women to be forever free of this disease.
